Sep 25: Film Screening and Stammtisch @ MMB
"We are happy to present to you once again the monthly Stammtisch. We start with the screening of the movie Liberated Zone in German with English sub-titles.

The film is about football in a small village in East Germany. The "liberated zone" is but a bitterly ironic nickname for the former GDR after reunification. It has been liberated above all from any moral constraints and beneath the surface there is a simmering latent violence with racist undertones.

After the screening join us at Café Max for the Stammtisch.

Sep 24: Leadership forum: Business Strategy Planning

"Reinvent Strategy Execution for Breakthrough Results

According to Fortune magazine studies, more than 90% of companies fail because they do not execute their well formulated strategies. CustomerLab Solutions, partners to some of the leading minds of the world including Kenihi Ohmae, Parasuraman, Schmitt and the founders of BSC, Drs Kaplan and Norton announces the launch of Execution Leadership Forum for assisting Indian companies execute strategy meticulously using the Kaplan-Norton framework and achieve world class performance. As part of the strategy execution process using the BSC, we have created systems to make organizations strategy focused. We perfectly understand the barriers to strategy implementation from our interaction with organizations across the world:
Only 5% of workforce understand the strategy;
Only 25% of managers have their incentives linked to strategy;
60% of the organization do not have budgets linked to strategy; and
85% of top management team spend less than one hour a month discussing strategy.
Most companies India face the big challenge: That of operationalising the leadership vision and to make breakthrough results a continuous process. In order to make your organization strategy focused and deliver stretch targets, you need to align your people to your strategy and the best available tool in the world for this is the Balanced Scorecard (BSC), which Harvard Business Review hails as the most revolutionary and effective tool of the last 75 years! In fact more than 80% of Fortune 1000 companies today use BSC for their strategy implementation. It is also the best integrator of all other management initiatives including Six Sigma, CRM, TQM, EVA, EFQM etc. As a way, we have perfected the process of doing this in the Indian culture.

Sep 20: Pancham - A Musical Tribute

"A true celebration: Unlike our earlier concerts, we hope to give a new dimension to the "Pancham - A Musical Tribute" concert. This concert is special to Zansam for many reasons. It is our second ticketed concert in Bangalore (after the success of Nostalgia Night in 2007). This concert is also a tribute to the legend of R. D. Burman, arguably the greatest composer Indian film music has seen to date. As a celebration, we look to give an air of festivity to the evening and the venue through decorations, an exhibition of paintings, a freely distributed souvenir on the life and music of R.D. Burman...and the music to follow. Just like our last concert, we hope to bring the audiences to their feet, dancing to PanchamDa's memorable and foot tapping music".

More Details at Zansam site.

Sep 26: Mobile Conversations: Everything you wanted to know about mobile marketing

moblie conversations

The mobile industry in India is booming with 290 million users, but have marketers really exploited this tremendous opportunity?
It's time to look at the mobile phone as a brand communication vehicle rather than a telecom device. It's time to look beyond SMS short codes and discover the branding opportunities in voice, GPRS and mobile gaming.
'Mobile Conversations' is a seminar which is a meeting point for mobile industry professionals, brand managers and creative agencies. It will focus on the role mobile can play in the media mix, being the most personal and interactive of mediums. The seminar will also highlight the immense potential that the mobile holds for a creative and effective marketing campaign for any brand.

Sep 19: businessgyan / An Invite for the Cutting Edge on "The Product Mind Set"
"
"You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give it to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new"
- Steve Jobs, CEO - Apple

Businessgyan & TASMAC presents the next Panel Discussion as part of the Cutting edge series on the topic

"The Product Mind Set"

A majority of companies in India specially Bangalore have a Services Mindset. "Do as per the customers specifications". Building products, as Steve Jobs indicates, requires a different approach. It requires one to look further, dream ahead, and plan longer term. With reducing margins and uncertain exchange rates perhaps companies need to look at developing products providing value that can be multiplied several times, without multiplying the resources required to do it as is usually the case in services companies.

What does it take to visualise, develop and create a product? We have a group of panel members who have had the experience in the fields of product creation, marketing and branding.

The Panelists are:

Chetan Maini

Managing Director - Reva Electric Car

Has done what few have managed to do. Make a revolutionary, eco-friendly car, years before the world started looking at these options. What does it take to be a visionary, face hurdles and stick to your path?

This is what Chetan Maini has to share

Harish Bijoor

CEO - Harish Bijoor Consults

A name Synonymous with Brands, he brings valuable insights on what makes a brand special, and how to create one.

Michael Foley

Managing Director - Foley Designs Pvt Ltd

Designer par excellence, has to his credit The World's Thinnest Watch, The Titan Edge.

How does one go about making a winning design, learn from this exceptionally talented designer.

Sep 13/14: Woyzeck at Ranga Shankara

"TOTO FUNDS THE ARTS & RAFIKI
present
Georg Büchner's WOYZECK
at
Ranga Shankara

September 13 (7:30 pm) & September 14 (3:30 pm & 7:30 pm)
Adaptation and Direction: Anmol Vellani
Cast includes Anish Victor, Ashish Sen, Sunitha M.R., Sachin Gurjale, Abhijeet Shetty, Ashish D'Abreo, Sanjay Iyer, V. Ashok Kumar, Shiva Pathak, Itisha Peerbhoy and Bharat Kumar
(Tickets: Rs 100. For bookings call Anil at 9448279252.)

Georg Büchner's Woyzeck is one the most celebrated plays in the German theatre repertory and has aroused much curiosity and fascination since it was first written in the 1830s. At one level, the play is a gripping story of love, betrayal and madness, a journey into the dark heart of human jealousy. At another, it is a nuanced exploration of the dehumanizing effects of poverty and a scathing statement on hypocrisy and moral boundaries.

Woyzeck is the first play in Western dramatic literature to politicize tragedy and feature a commoner as a tragic figure. Franz Woyzeck is a peasant-soldier whose fate is sealed as much by his own actions as by the forces of oppression in nineteenth century Prussian society. The play explores lust, infidelity, brutality, depravity and murder with a radical vision and compact intensity unequalled in the history of drama.

A new script of Woyzeck has been specially created for this production. The script underscores Woyzeck's lack of voice and agency, his helplessness and despair, and his gradual disintegration as he is bullied and tormented by his superiors, subjected to bizarre medical experiments by the army doctor, and betrayed by his beautiful and vivacious mistress.

Supported by the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, Bangalore.

This production is unsuitable for audiences below the age of 16. "
