Dear Friends, May is the last month of vacation time. There is that wonderful opportunity to catch some wonderful plays before the kids go back to school!
To make it better, the schedule for May kicks off with a children?s play, ?Beyond the Land of Hattamala?, by the veteran playwright Badal Sircar. Urja?s production of this play runs for a week and is a delightful watch for both kids and adults. ?Niharika?, a new play written and directed by the young Abhishek Majumdar is another must-watch. If you missed the rollicking comedy Neenaanadrenaaneenena? (adapted from Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors) in April, you have another chance in May.
Thank you for your support and see you at RS!

This ad appeared in the Times of India Bangalore on May 4th, 2006. Surprise, Surprise! The Government Flying Training School (GFTS) at Jakkur (Bangalore) is up for privatization!! GFTS @ Jakkur has been beleagured by a spate of problems. It was defunct till 2002 when it was resuscitated , coinciding with the beginning of aviation boom in the country. Now, again it is in doldrums as the CFI (Chief Flying Instructor) Mr Jai Prakash has left the school. Also, credit this to its bad luck, Jakkur airfield (which also comes under the same authority) has seen witnessed some accidents in the last 2 years. In one accident, southern actress Soundarya had died in a take-off crash while leaving for hustings. Also, another small plane had a dry-tank crash near Jakkur in Hebbal Lake last year. Good for the city flying enthusiasts that its being privatised. Its ironic that a city thats considered Mecca of aviation in India doesn't have ANY flying school as of now. Hopefully, things will improve post privatization. On a more serious note, anybody interested in the grabs? Lets talk! Deadline is 22nd May!

I graduated from my PhD programme on Mar 28th, 2006 and thus (finally!) converting my almost six-month graduand status to a graduate one! I recieved the title "Fellow of IIM Bangalore" from the acting Chairman of IIMB Society (Chairman Mukesh Ambani had to cancel his plan at the last minute).
Reminds me of a quote I used to have in my IIMB hostel room: I'm going to graduate on time. No matter how long it takes! Also, don't know why but I feel like quoting Shakespeare: All's well that ends well. Related? Huh. Philosophical? Huh. Who cares, man? I finished my doctoral studies, man! In presence of the whole family too! (Everybody in family was mighty impressed when I was the first person to recieve a degree that evening. Little did they know that it was because my roll number came first! Heck, I even got to lead the convocation procession.) Anyways, even though it was quite a sober ceremony, everybody had a lot of fun as air was pregnant with a strong feeling of achievement.

Been away from blogging for a long time. Was busy getting married and life after it! Hey you, did I hear you whisper "marriage blues"? Wipe that grin on your face or I'd do it for you. (pssst: Okay, shut up for now but we can talk about it later :-)
Jokes apart, Thank you all for the wonderful wishes on my marriage. I am a much married man now, Yes Sir! But being away from blogging was not just because of getting married, but because lots been happening in life! Work has got real hectic esp. with margins under tremendous pressure and company going public (May 18th) and all.
Chronology for last few months: # Got married on Feb 15th # Came back to Bangalore without Gunjan on 27th Feb. # Searched and searched for house as I had to move out of campus. # Went back to home for Holi on 14th March. # Came back to Bangalore with Gunjan on 16th March # Spent last two days in campus with her. # Shifted to the house I found in R T Nagar on 19th March. # Convocated on 29th March. My parents, mom-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law all show up in a show of solidarity. Or maybe, it was to do with the fact that they had to be there to believe that I was graduating finally! # My team (Revenue Management) at work shifted from airport back to corporate office at Cunningham Road (very close to Sigma mall, so anybody around Mon-Sat, do ping me!). # Got busy with regular married life till Apr 19th. # Got involved in a sudden family medical emergency from Apr 19th onwards. Was in Mumbai from Apr 20th to May 2nd. # Came back to the grind in Bangalore on 3rd May. # Leaving for Mumbai again next week (around 16th/17th May) for another 8-10 days or more.
Its good to be back on Net! You are beautiful, people!
