Trying to come to terms with English with the difference between 'being well' and 'being in well', the difference between 'nighty and 'dark', the difference between 'Gilli danda' and 'Baseball'.

The Academy of Storytelling has successfully completed five batches of training courses at its center so far. People from varied walks of life like corporates, IT professionals, teachers, NGOS, parents, students and educators have been the beneficiaries of the course. As a sequel to the workshops we are launching a series of workshops for the year 2006-07 titled 'Each one teach one'- Empowering storytellers to further their interests in the field. The first step towards this is a Toy theater workshop- Using puppets and shadow play to tell stories as also the use of clay to mould story characters.
Toy Theater-Through Puppets we can make animal sounds, talk about feelings and take an imaginary trip through characters created for Toy theaters. Toy Theater is an ancient art form that began in England in the early 19 th century to tell children stories using shadow play and backdrops of Shakespeare's theater before the advent of the Television. After the two world wars the Toy theaters were completely destroyed and there are very few Toy Theater tellers. In India Kathalaya is the first organisation to introduce Toy Theater for telling in schools. We will have a half-day workshop on clay modeling as well on the second day of the workshop.
Lalu Narayan is an artist, storyteller and journalist and a trained professional in pottery and has over the last seven years successfully integrated clay modeling into storytelling and has trained teachers and artists to mould clay for storytelling. Lalu Narayan has also been instrumental in beginning Kathalaya in 1998 whose vision is to 'Make a Positive Social Change in Education Through Storytelling.'

About Rueda de Casino Rueda de Casino started in Cuba in the mid 20th century and it is the roots of what you can see danced in Miami, and around the world today. In Cuba, the people used to get together in large halls, called "Casinos", hence the name. Rueda (as it is commonly called in Cuba) is a form of Casino danced in a round with 2 or more couples exchanging partners when one person calls out the turn names ("Rueda" is Spanish for "Wheel", and "Casino" is known outside of Cuba as "Salsa").
