"HANDS-ON TRAINING ON USE OF MINITAB

Duration: 1 Day (Friday, 8th Aug. 2008)
Course Objectives:
" To make the participants familiar with MINITAB software based statistical tool for effective business-decision making.
" To enable the participants to apply these tools & techniques in practical real-life situations. The case studies considered belong to diverse applications in the fields of Healthcare, Security, Census, R&D, Quality, Hardware, Software, Embedded, Stock Market and Investment Analysis.
Course Contents:
" Introduction to Statistics & MINITAB: Data types, Inferential Decision System, Launching MINITAB, Entering data, Saving and Exploring data, MINITAB sources and help.
" Display Descriptive Statistics and Quality Tools: Graphs for One and Two variables: Dot plot, Histogram, Bar graph, Time series plot, Box plot, Pie chart, Scatter plot, Frequency Distributions: Binomial, Poisson and Normal distributions
" Inferential Decision Problems: Confidence interval estimates, Mean problems: One sample and Two sample z and t tests, Hypothesis testing using Z and t tests, Variance problems: One way ANOVA, Normality test, Test of equal variance. Proportion problems: Chi-square distribution for Goodness of fit test
" Quality Tools & Control Charts: Run charts, Control Charts for Variable data, attribute data and count data, Pareto charts, Cause and Effect diagrams, Capability analysis.
Methodology:
" An overview explaining each topic followed by the Case Study related to that topic, implemented in MINITAB, will be presented,
" Data Sets related to those case studies will be given to solve assignments during the session.
Prerequisite:
" The participants should bring their own laptop configured with MINITAB
" 30 days' free-trial version of MINITAB can be downloaded from www.minitab.com
