NATIONWIDE COMPETITION FOR BANDS AT THE CAMPUS LEVEL
 
'CAMPUS ROCK IDOL 2007' TO PERFORM WITH AN INTERNATIONAL ROCK ARTIST
 
Bangalore-Friday, 5 January 2007: Hero Honda Campus Rock Idols, India's largest inter-college rock music competition is all set for the third edition of "Hero Honda Campus Rock Idols™". The annual independent competition for amateur bands at the campus level, in this third consecutive year, offers an ultimate experience for bands to perform on a professional, technical and evolved production offering.
 
Hero Honda Campus Rock Idols Tour 2006-07 in association with Nokia, WorldSpace, VH1 and Reliance, will be held across 10 cities in India over a period of 2-months.  Commencing on 13 January 2007, the competition culminates with a grand finale in Pune on 11 February 2007 at Pyramid Lawns.
 
The regional events will commence on 13 January 2007 in Shillong followed by Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Manipal, Indore, Chandigarh, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Pune respectively. The South Zone comprises of Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Manipal for the music fest while the West Zone encompasses Pune, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Indore, Delhi and Chandigarh form the cities in the North Zone and In the East Zone, the event will be organised in Kolkata and Shillong.
 
Entry forms are being distributed at various campuses. Alternatively, aspiring amateur bands at the campus level can log on to www.dnanetworks.com to register for the competition.  The jury comprising of senior representatives from the music industry will shortlist the winners at the respective cities. All participating members must be bona fide college students. They are required to attach a copy of their ID cards with the entry forms. Members of the band must be less than 25 yrs of age as on 13th Jan 2007. A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 members can be a part of a band.
 
The Regional selection in Bangalore will begin on 24 January 2007. The top two winning bands from the Regional selections will compete with other bands in the South Zone Finals held at Manipal. On completion of the regional events, the chosen bands will be provided with travel and accommodation for the Zonal Finals. The top two bands from each zone will compete in the Grand Finals. The Zonal Finals for the other zones will be held at Delhi, Kolkata and Pune. Black Earth & Wax from Bangalore qualified for CRI 2005 South Zone Finals held in Bangalore last year.

Prestorika from Delhi, winners of Hero Honda & Pepsi Campus Rock Idols 2004 performed the opening act at "THE RASMUS" concert while The Super Fuzz BigMuff" Delhi, winners of Hero Honda & Pepsi Campus Rock Idols 2005 performed the opening act at "Bryan Adams" concert held in 2006.   This year's winners will get a once-in-a-lifetime debut opportunity to perform alongside international acclaimed rock band Iron Maiden. India's first ever Rock Festival is sure to entice fans from all across the country. This Festival comes at an opportune time when the music industry is witnessing a revival of the Rock and Metal musical genres. The runners up get cash prizes and other opportunities to showcase their talent.
