Who's corrupt? He? She? How about 'Me'?

On our alumni group, in response to this:
#.# "avinash wrote: Salary & Govt. Concessions for a Member of parliament (MP)
TOTAL expense for a MP per year : 32,00,000 For 534 MPs, the expense for 5 years : 8,54,40,00,000 (nearly 855 cores) And they are elected by THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, by the largest democratic process in the world, not intruded into the parliament on their own or by any qualification. This is how all our tax money is been swallowed and price hike on our regular commodities....... Think o! f the great democracy we have............."

This neat deliberation from a senior alumnus:
#.# "Are we all not alike ? Why single out politician only. There are large number of govt. servants who take so much money as their salary without doing duties assigned to them. There are Industrialists who take money from govt., from public banks for some project , take tax benefits also but still so many times such projects never see face of the day. All come from revenue generated by govt, from people of India. Industrial houses open schools and academic Institutions and other Institutions and for this they get costly land at cheap rate because they give illusion that this is for betterment of large section of society but later these Institutions become shops to earn money for them.

Mans of us, technocrats will be taking salary in govt. sector without doing much. Dont we fall under same category as politicians?

Engineering colleges, Medical colleges dont utilize money from tax payers? Are teachers at these colleges indulged in giving quality education with full devotion for which these Institutions were established? Are we as students seriusly study at these Institutions where everything is subsidised and people of India pay tax to run such Institutions?

Ideally it was decided that rural India lack medical facility and fresh medical gradute should work atleast two years at PHC in rural area. Who is ready?

If govt. decides that no fresh graduate engineer will be be allowed to go abroad without paying 5 lac Rs, how much of us will happliy be accepting such policy?

How many software engineers were happy and agree with Wipro chief Premji when he offered his opinion last year that govt. should take more tax from people working in software field because comparatively they are earning more and in lieu software Industries should be given more relaxation in taxes.

A B.Tech.+ MBA gets job in MNC which is establishing a soft drink manufacturing unit in a village in India and our BTMBA fellow has to do everything. Plant is installed. One litre of soft drink concentrate demands 20 litres of simple water and for this Co dril the earth and takes out potable water. In one year , there is shortage of water in surrounding and farmers cry foul. What will co do and what will that BTMBA do? Co was supposed to recycle water but instead they used fresh potable water in the manufacturing of soft drink. Every thing was done by Indian manager because he was only interested in his fat salary. He was certainly knowing what was happening and villagers were ignorant. Laws are there to protect natural resources but who cares. Every law can be manipulated with money. Same MNC cant dare to do same in west but here they have managers who can do anything. Who is culprit ? Even if we know these facts we will be doing job in same Co and will seek promotion etc by removing hurdles coming on the way of Co's production. We will allure villagers, we may give bribe to their leaders so that they dont make noise. Because first we have to establish ourselves, then our family and later Country and society comes. and everybody is doing same then why complains are there? Few nations demands organs of animals and sometimes precious animals are killed who are becoming extinct and who is killing them for sake of money- we Indians. We kill rare animals also. Virtaully we kill anything and everything and sell that to foreigners. If foreigners( including NRIs) need human organs then we have some Indian merchants available for this. If some big pharma MNC wants to do direct human testing for their yet unregistered medicine , we have merchants in the form of doctors who will give those unregistered medicines as sample to ignorant patient and poor patient is happy that he got medicine freely.

These are the realities. We see coruption in every field of life around us and we ignore that and sometimes we are also part of corruption. we are corrupt so we dont worry while selecting corrupt politicians. Politicians are not coming from moon. They are our relatives. When seed is bad then crop cant be good its simple fact. Nobody wants tension in life. Who will welcome a Bhagat Singh or Gandhi in their own family? Because they are bound to create tension in your life first before they keep eye outside of home. Corruption does not bother us. Just one or two day before, advice was given on this forum that harcourtian should send photo copy of his passport, letter of authority aalong with some money if he wants smooth delivery of degree. we may take it lightly and in humour but then everybody is doing this. If politician is also doing same then whom to blame? We are so big nation with huge population that if we all start spiting in a well then it will be filled with our saliva after sometime. Its good to write such mails and forwarding it to counless Indians. We Indians, atleast those who have Computer and Internet facility, have been doing daily such sweet activities where someone send some facts which make us emotionally honest for some time and we forward it to several others. Be it mail about martyrs of Kargil or some facts about ancient India. Some are so generous that now a days we all get mails with title " dont ignore this mail". They are always belonging to some wish mail, devoted to some deity or some god person. Mails dont end with good wishes only there is always a threat also that if you dont do this you will get curse. This is sheer emotional blackmailing but we all are spreading this disease all around. Hopefully everybody thinks that ok whats harm if I forward it atleast I wont be harmed by curse. Nobody sends it to get good wish but to spare him from curse because he is not allowed to break the chain. Its not easy to get elected. Politicians allure us and we give them vote. Its hard work on their part. We may not needing a particular person in parliament and he is not going to make any difference but we select him for several other reasons. He may belong to our cast, he may belong to our region. he may be friend or relative of our known fellow or simply he may be having some favour to us in some of our work ( which can be morally illegal at times). Did not lower middle class Indians buy vacuum cleaners 15 years ago when very few were having carpet at home, let alone wall to wall carpet. Co, inserted the fact in our mind that its status symbol to keep vacuum cleaner so people bought it later it was kept back in to the box again because there was no use of it. Co's marketing people allured us and we selected option to buy vacuum cleaner. Same way politicians allure us and we select them though their job is just opposite to vacuum cleaner. They spread dirt but we all are also contributing in this dirt spreading fashion in some way or other.

Every body wants big package and we expect our MPs MLAs to work with small amount of money because in our eyes they are not doing anything.

Atleast educated like technocrats may ask and discuss in relatively defined manner. Who is doing something for country? Are we doing ? Average Indian is honest ? Are we honest ?"
