2. Forest Outing: Navdarshanam -----Original Message----- From: Prakriti - The Nature Club Sent: Thursday, September 11, 2003 10:35 AM To: @FPM Students Subject: Forest Outing: Navdarshanam
Dear IIMB Community Members
To refresh you and give you a healthy break from daily hectic routine at IIMB,the club is organizing a trip to Navadarshanam - a nascent forest and an Ashram near a small lush green village. We would leave at 12 pm on Sunday (14/09/03) and come back by 5 pm.
If you want to be among the lucky ones who would experience the most nature friendly place around and taste the healthy organic food, prepared with pesticide-free ingredients then email us by 2 pm. tomm. or write your name in the sheet, which will be put on mess notice board tommorow morning.
Those of you are sure of going, should reply indicating whether you want to have the food or not. Based on the number of people, the food will be ordered and mode of transportation will be arranged.
Approximate expenditure would be Rs. 100 per person for organic food and small token money to the ashram + transportation charges which would be nominal depending on the number of persons going.A guide would also accompany us to explain the things.
The Navdarshanam has following distinctiveness:
Eco-restoration: A wasteland converted to a small forest. Thousands of trees have appeared, planted by mysterious forces of nature invisible to the senses. Soil conditions have improved dramatically.
Natural farming: No chemicals and pesticides are used, the faith being that a healthy soil will take care of all plants in its bosom.
Health and food: Food items and cooking methods have been classified according to the digestibility/acidity-alkalinity. Diseases are seen as 'absence of ease,' caused by undigested food, which disturb the ecology of the of the body.
Energy: Because of the ecologically damaging nature of the technologies that generate power these days, all power requirements, including that for pumping water and for lighting, is generated through solar panels and systems.
Housing: All dwelling units at Navadarshanam have been aesthetically designed and constructed with the help of alternative technologies, using eco-friendly concepts and locally available material and labour.
Looking forward to explore a different world with you.
Regards
Prakriti@IIMB
