Wi-Fi in campuses

Yesterday's Times of India carried an article about the educational campuses getting Wi-Fi networked. I gave inputs on the IIMB Wi-Fi connectivity. The article can be seen at ToI site: Graphic version, Text version.

Apart from article, more thoughts on Wi-Fi:
# IIMB is already Wi-Fi enabled. It was one of the early select experimental wi-fi spots in Bangalore that an industry consortium 2 years back had decided upon. The actual campus-wide implementation by IIMB has happened this year.
# As the campus is huge, it helps students a lot in being mobile while also being in touch with the data and work all the time. Also, work can now be mixed with social settings outside your hostel room. You dont have to be on your desk to finish the statistical analysis on the market research submission. You can be in the mess (canteen), drinking coffee, discussing with other group members while working on that last-minute project submission. Since a good number of students have laptops, the availability of wi-fi enables group-work at a totally different level. Also, since a good number of students have an on-line/web presence, wi-fi helps them stay connected and updated irrespective of their coordinates.
# ISB, Hyderabad is Wi-Fi enabled. XIME (Xaviers Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship), Bangalore also went wi-fi in January this year. IIITB (Indian Institute of Information Technology Bangalore) also could be wi-fi but a not sure.
