Dec 6-7: Kudremukh Trek from Exotic Expeditions 

Kudremukh Trek (Dec 6th & 7th ' 2008)
The Place
 
Kudremukh or Kudremukha (meaning horse faced) is a mountain range in Chikmangalur district.The highest peak in this range also by the same name stands tall at 1892 meters above sea level. This is the second highest peak in Karnataka and is situated in the Kudremukh national park .
The Kudremukh National is the second largest declared Wildlife Protected Area of a tropical wet evergreen type of forest in the Western Ghats. Kudremukh National Park is located in Udupi and Chikmagalore districts of Karnataka .
A diverse assemblage of endangered large mammals is found in the park supporting three large mammal predator species Tiger, Leopard and Wild Dogs. The important Tiger prey base found within the Park is Gaur, Sambar, Wild Boar, Muntjac(Barking Deer), Chevrotain, Bonnet Macaque, Common Langur,Lion Tailed Macaque. 
The wet climate and the tremendous water retentive capacity of the shola grasslands and forests has led to the formation of thousands of perennial streams in the region converging to form three major rivers of the region, Tunga, Bhadra and Nethravathi.
Itinerary

Dec 5th - 10.00 p.m.- Leave from Bangalore .

Dec 6th
6.00 a.m -
Reach Kudremukh early morning and refresh at  forest guest house.Have breakfast and complate entry formalities from forest department  to peak we start the trek with a forest department guide.
8.30 a.m - Start trek through villages and farms and later go on to thicker forests and grasslands. Reach peak by afternoon. Have packed lunch at peak.
2.30 p.m - Late afternoon leave  from the peak and start climbing down and reach village at periphery of the Kudremukh national park where we pitch tents and camp for the night.
8.30 p.m. - Dinner / Campfire  and overnight stay in tents .

Dec 7th
After breakfast check out and visit Lakya Dam and a small trek to waterfalls and tea gardens .  Leave by about 1 p.m . Lunch can be had on the way. Reach Bangalore by 9.p.m.
