Kodagu or Coorg is situated on the eastern slope of the Western Ghats. It is a hilly district; the lowest elevation is 900m above sea-level. The highest peak, Tadiandamol, has an altitude of 1,750m; Pushpagiri is 1,715m high. The principal river is the KaveriRiver (Cauvery), which rises at Talakaveri on the eastern side of the Western Ghats, and with its tributaries, drains the greater part of Kodagu.
Coorg is nature's treasure trove where misty hills and forests mingle with coffee and spice plantations. The forests are covered with shola vegetation with many evergreen patches and there are various species of butterflies and birds.
River rafting on the Barapole river and tackling Grade 3 + and Grade 4 rapids and passing the swift river waters gives you an unmatched thrill and adrenaline rush. Our rafting site at Barapole river is the best stretch of rafting available in South India.
Our rafting site is on the Barapole river in south Coorg.The barapole is a swift flowing river and this is one of the best rafting stretches in south india with grade 4 rapids.
Tentative Itinerary
8th Aug - 11 p.m. - Leave from Bangalore at night.
9th Aug - Reach early morning at Coorg and check into homestay in the middle of plantation. After freshen up and breakfast go for a full day trek through plantations, hills, ridges and forests. Experience the thrill of walking though rocky streams, thick shola forests and ridges with beautiful views.We have packed lunch on the way and reach waterfalls to take a shower under the falls. Evening back to campsite.
10th Aug - After breakfast we check out and trek downhill for about half an hour to board bus to rafting spot. Reach rafting spot and after briefing by the raft guides we indulge in a thrilling experience of river rafting in the swift flowing waters of the Barapole. Feel the thrill and adrenaline rush when you tackle Grade 4 rapids in the river run passing through forests and plantations. Late afternoon leave for Bangaloare and reach by night.
